Haunts
“Do you think this will come across as racist?” We’re packed into the tiny second dressing room of La Maroquinerie and Haunts’ guitarist, egged on by his tour manager, is putting his design skills to good use by signing the band’s name on the graffiti-covered door, embellishing it with an escalating series of stereotypically French icons. By the time ‘Haunts’ is wearing a beret, perched on a baguette and has a man on a bicycle riding towards it the band have all collectively decided that “maybe everyone will think that we just wrote our name and someone else drew all the French stuff on afterwards”.
Today is the first date of a long stint in Europe promoting Haunts’ debut album, first supporting White Lies, then Eagles Of Death Metal.
On March 9th, myself and a writer-friend Lola Tate, spent a day with Haunts in Paris. This is Lola’s opening paragraph from the feature we did on them for The Fly, of which the first part has just gone up on The-Fly.co.uk. My photo story and the second part of the Q&A should be going up on Monday but here’s a sneak peek at the photos, including some extras which didn’t make the final cut.
