Slam Dunk North 2010
On Sunday I photographed Slam Dunk North for Rock Sound, which mainly involved lots of running up and down stairs, lots of lens changing and lots of boys in bands.
I did a few behind the scenes photos with Young Guns, a couple of quick portraits with Set Your Goals and live photos of both, along with Rolo Tomassi, Against Me! and Futures.
To finish up the day I watched The Rocket Summer from the side of the stage, which was just amazing. I can’t think of another band like them on the bill and Bryce Avery gave us a such an intimate performance to the point where he played one song right in the middle of the audience.
And then somehow, crowdsurfing happened in the VIP bar at the end of the aftershow. Must have been those £1 drinks…
Futures
“THIS IS THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF”
Futures are brilliant. Brand new and bounding like an excited puppy out of the ashes of Tonight Is Goodbye, they’ve only played twenty-five live shows together and I went along to the last of these in Sheffield just over a week ago. I photographed the day for Rock Sound and my behind the scenes set of photos has just gone online, with lots of outtakes posted below.
You can check out Futures on MySpace and if you like what you hear, go pick up a copy of this month’s Rock Sound as Futures’ debut mini-album ‘The Holiday’ is being given away with it for free.
Expect to hear a lot more from these boys this year.
